WORKSHOP ON THE BIOART PROJECT AT THE POLITECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF MADRID
From 28 January to 1 February, a training course was held at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM), Madrid, Spain, as part of the international BIOART project. The DSEA delegation was represented by the Head of the Computer and information technology department, prof. Aleksandr Tarasov, Associate Professor of the Computer and information technology department, Lyudmila Vasilieva, Associate Professor Head of the Computer and information technology department, prof. Aleksandr Tarasov Eduard Gribkov.
Participants of the BIOART project from Ukraine and Israel during their training upgraded their qualifications: got acquainted with the organization of educational process in UPM, received methodological materials for preparation of new and improvement of existing training courses in the departments of Computer and information technology and Manufacturing processes and automation engineering, got acquainted with the laboratory base and scientific researches of UPM.
The training consisted of several events. On January 28, project participants met at the UPM Telecommunication Systems Engineering College (Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenierıa y Sistemas de Telecomunicacion, ETSIST). The BIOART Project Coordinator, Prof. D. Luengo.
Interesting was the report about new project participant - Associate Professor of Catholic University of Leuven "KU Leuven" P. Arras, who described programs in the field of biomedical engineering, experience in preparation and implementation of international projects and research.
On January 29, the training continued its work at ETSIST, where its representatives gave presentations of the institution and its bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs. The visit of the workshop participants to the Department of Signal Theory and Communication was interesting, with demonstrations of moon and reverberation cameras, radio frequency laboratory, acoustics laboratory, sound recording studio, image processing laboratory, television recording studio. They also discussed issues of financial management, preparation of reports. Excursions to the Museum of Telecommunications and the Digital House Laboratory were also held for the workshop participants.
On January 30, the UPM (Biomedical Technology Center) training session began with a presentation by the Center's Director, G. Guinea, and his Deputy, F. Rojo. The project participants were acquainted with the work of the laboratories of the center: cognitive neurology, magnetoencephalography, biomaterials and regenerative engineering, bioinstruments.
After that the training moved to the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineering PUM (Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenierıa de Telecomunicacion, ETSIT), where the presentation of the school, its library, excursions to laboratories: moonless camera, institute of optoelectronic systems and microelectronic laboratories » was made.
On January 31, the trainees worked at ETSIST. The presentation of online learning tools was made by E. Shmuelli. The presentation of S. Subotin was devoted to the issues of coverage of the project results in the collection of reports. The lectures were "Sensory" (C. Benavente), "Signal Recognition Methods" (H. Gutierrez-Arriola, R. Frail), "Digital Processing of Biomedical Signals" (D. Luengo), "ECG Signal Processing" (D. Luengo). ), "Biometrics" (D. Meltzer). Informal discussions and discussions between project partners were also conducted.
On February 1, the final meeting was held at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering UPM (Escuela Tecnica Superior de Ingenierıa Industrial, ETSII). The participants of the project listened the presentation of the school and got acquainted with the material and technical base: laboratory of power electronics, laboratory of robotics and intelligent machines, laboratory of design in bioengineering, laboratories of the Research center of automation and robotics, center of industrial electronics, laboratory of industrial electronics. The final results of the training were discussed.
The visit of the DSEA staff within the BIOART project ensured that its tasks were fulfilled, as well as facilitated the internationalization of the DSEA and the deepening of its cooperation with partner universities.
